Questions about Your Federal Loans? We Can Help!

Important Changes in Federal Loans!
If you are applying for a Federal Student Loan for the 2010-2011 academic year, please contact your School’s Financial Aid Office for assistance. Due to recent legislation introducing a Direct Lending Program, funded directly by the US Treasury, Community First Credit Union no longer has the ability to fund Federal Student Loans, however we are committed to helping you answer your Federal Loan questions and give you advice on filling out the FAFSA.

As of July 1, 2010, all borrowers will need to complete a new Master Promissory Note for future Federal Loans through the Department of Education.

When researching Federal Loans, you’ll find the Stafford Loan is one of the most affordable loans available.

  • Federal Stafford Loans are government-secured loans available to undergraduate and graduate students at very low rates that are fixed for the life of the loan

Parent Plus Loan
The Federal Parent Plus Loan allows parents and legal guardians with good credit to borrow up to the total cost of their dependents undergraduate education, minus any other aid the student is eligible for.

  • The Parent Plus Loan allows parents to borrow federally guaranteed low interest loans to help pay for their child's education.
  • A Federal PLUS Loan allows parents to borrow the total cost of undergraduate education including tuition, room and board, supplies, lab expenses and travel, less any other aid granted.
