Brent Jensen honored for SBA business lending

CFCU lender recognized for facilitating small business and job growth in Northeast Wisconsin

Tuesday, December 15, 2015
Community First’s Brent Jensen has been recognized for his efforts in facilitating job creation and growth among small businesses in Northeast Wisconsin.
Jensen, who joined CFCU in February 2010 as VP Business Services/Senior Business Lender, received an award Dec. 3 from Great Lakes Asset Corp., a Green Bay development company that works with lenders to offer businesses long-term, fixed rate financing under a U.S. Small Business Administration program.

Top State SBA Lender
During fiscal 2015, Brent originated three of the 10 SBA loans closed in Wisconsin by GLAC – the most of any lender. His efforts to assist business growth and expansion while retaining existing and creating new jobs helped strengthen a pre-school/daycare center in Green Bay, a new assisted living facility in Manitowoc and the expansion of a community-based residential facility in De Pere. Together, about 30 new jobs were created.
“Brent has done an amazing job with the 504 loans,” said Cynthia Esterling, GLAC executive director. “Aside from being a kind, considerate man, Brent is also a respected lender in the industry. I appreciate that he thinks outside the normal lending box and looks at what is best for his members.”
“Brent has been an outstanding member of our business lending team at Community First,” said Kim Van Osdol, Senior Vice President Business Services. “His keen insights, sound advice and business acumen make him a trusted advisor and valuable resource for business owners looking to grow their businesses.”

Member Praise for Brent
Jerry Vandermause of Manitowoc credits Brent with facilitating an SBA loan that was a key part of the financing when he and his wife Karen started Maritime Gardens Assisted Living.
The couple had been looking for a second career after selling the Millhome Supper Club, a popular eatery they had operated for 28 years. They had a business plan but financing proved a challenge. However, once Jerry was referred to Brent, the new venture came together quickly.
Brent helped secure SBA financing and a Community First business loan, enabling construction of the 26-bed facility.
Jerry and Karen said Brent was great to work with.
“Brent was always responding to my calls or emails. He never left a question unanswered. He always kept me at ease with anything we brought to him,” Jerry said. “Community First found a way for me to start a new career — they are totally business friendly.”
“I totally endorse Community First,” said Karen Vandermause.

Community First congratulates Brent on his continued outstanding contributions to our financial cooperative and the terrific service he provides to our business member/owners.
