Community First Credit Union Member Story Tied for First Place in Nationwide Video Contest

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

December 23, 2009

Appleton, Wis. – A video submitted by Community First Credit Union and featuring a local family tied for first place in the REAL Solutions Member Video Contest, sponsored by the National Credit Union Foundation.

The REAL Solutions contest sought out members’ stories that demonstrated the credit union difference, and the solutions that credit unions provide to their members every day. More than 40 videos were submitted to the contest by credit unions across the country. Those were narrowed down to the top five, which were then put to a public vote on the REAL Solutions website to determine a winner.

Community First Credit Union’s video profiles the Gregory family who, after using most of their savings for adoption expenses, thought they wouldn’t be able to afford the dream of owning a home. With the help of Community First’s unique Stimulus Mortgage Program for first-time homebuyers which provided an interest-free upfront loan of the First Time Homebuyers Tax Credit, the Gregorys were able to purchase a home for themselves and their son, Carter, this year.

Each of the top vote-getting credit unions and the featured member(s) will receive a free trip to Washington DC to be honored at the 2010 Credit Union National Associations’ Governmental Affairs Conference in February.

Community First Credit Union has over 360 employees and serves over 82,000 members-owners with 17 branches located throughout Northeastern Wisconsin. Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in Outagamie, Winnebago, Calumet, Manitowoc, Waupaca, Brown, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Oconto, Shawano, Sheboygan and Waushara counties. The credit union has assets totaling more than $1.3 billion.
