Community First is proud to sponsor several scholarships for students from our service area.

Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions Scholarships
Three high school seniors, including two Community First Credit Union members, have been awarded $1,000 scholarships through the Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions.
Evan Arnold of Neenah, Josh Porior of Oshkosh and Julia Thompson of Kimberly were awarded the scholarships at the chapter’s March 19 Annual Meeting.
Arnold, a senior at Neenah who will study business at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and Porior, a senior at Oshkosh West who plans to study architecture at the University of Minnesota, are both Community First members.
Evan Arnold
Evan is an entrepreneur at heart. At age 9, he created a charitable foundation that has provided more than $55,000 worth of baseball equipment to children around the world through Step Up To the Plate. His other nonprofit, Peace Is The Goal, Inc., has helped deliver more than $100,000 worth of soccer equipment to at-risk children in 140 countries.
“I have been a credit union member since I was a toddler, and have utilized credit union services, particularly over the past several years, to save money toward college and to help run my two charitable organizations,” Evan said. “Thank you for investing in me and my future.”
Josh Porior
Like many of his college-bound peers, Josh is seeking to pay for college with minimal student debt but is finding it a challenge. He has used top of the market interest rates on Community First savings accounts and CDs to invest funds from his part-time job. He likes using CFCU’s Online Banking to keep track of his deposits and spending.
Josh seeks to “give back to others through service to my school, church and larger community.” As a saxophonist with the Oshkosh West wind ensemble, summer marching band and jazz band, he volunteers time mentoring younger musicians. He also makes time to help at the Day-By-Day warming shelter, area homeless shelters, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Special Olympics and at area elementary schools. An Eagle Scout, Josh is also an audio-visual specialist at his church and has helped with set design for its Vacation Bible School. “As with Community First, I seek to make an impact on my community so that we can grow stronger together,” Josh said.

Celebrating Volunteers Youth Scholarship
Community First is once again sponsoring the Youth Scholarship Award at the 2018 Celebrating Volunteers community gala scheduled for April 26 at the Radisson Paper ValleyHotel in Appleton. The award recognizes a high school student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in promoting volunteerism in the community. This year's recipient of a $1,500 scholarship and $1,000 for the charity of her choice is Rachel Miserlian of Neenah. To read Rachel's story CLICK HERE.
