Secure Shred and Electronics Recycle Events for Members July 28, 2020 Community First Credit Union is once again collaborating with four other local credit unions to help members dispose of sensitive paperwork and household items by hosting shredding and electronics recycling events across Northeastern Wisconsin. These events are open only to members of Community First, Fox Communities, Prospera, Badger Globe and Wisconsin Medical Credit Unions. Featured services at these events include paper document shredding and electronics/household items recycling. Here are some important points for each: FREE ON-SITE PAPER SHREDDING There is no cost, however there is a limit of 5 grocery-size bags. This service is for documents containing sensitive information such as financial statements, check stubs and tax records. Here’s a listing of how long it is recommended to keep these kind of documents: Keep for 45 days – Credit card receipts & statements Keep for 1 year – paycheck stubs, financial statements & bills Keep for 7 years – House records & tax records (keep a copy of all 1040 forms permanently) Paper items not needing to be shredded include magazines, newspapers, coupon sheets or any other paper that does not contain personal information. Please recycle these items with your local municipality. ELECTRONIC AND HOUSEHOLD ITEM RECYCLING: Many items are free to recycle. Our volunteers will take care of transferring items for you. Also, for the benefit of everyone, we ask you refrain attending if you are sick or have been exposed to someone who is sick.
