Therapy Dog fundraiser launches for Tomorrow’s Children

puppy running.Community First Credit Union is providing a $2,500 matching grant to help raise $10,000 for Tomorrow’s Children to acquire a therapy dog. The non-profit organization’s residential treatment facility serves Wisconsin children and families with severe mental health and trauma-related struggles.

A therapy dog is considered an effective tool to help ease and manage anxiety, emotional trauma and stress, said Andrea Haas, a licensed professional counselor/certified clinical trauma professional with Tomorrow’s Children. “Our children often do not have healthy coping or relational skills and use unsafe behaviors to control their environments and those within them,” said Haas. “A therapy dog would allow us to provide another tool to ease anxieties of the children when exploring traumatic and difficult pasts.”

All donations received will be matched by Community First up to $2,500. “When we learned about this organization and their mission to help children with a therapy dog, our hearts overflowed,” said Cathy Mutschler, VP Community Relations for Community First Credit Union. “Not only will this adorable puppy be an important help to these children, it will bring cheer to our members knowing they have helped to make a difference,” said Mutschler.

Donations can be made at any Community First Credit Union branch until Nov. 25, with 100% of contributions going directly to fund the therapy dog. Donations can also be sent to Tomorrow’s Children, P.O. Box 192, Waupaca, WI 54981 or submitted online at
