Community rallying to help Manawa family after devastating home fire

Family lost all possessions, home destroyed in December fire; benefit Saturday Feb. 9

Wednesday, February 6, 2019
The Manawa community is rallying around the family of Community First member-owners Josh and Clarissa Fradrich after a Dec. 4 fire destroyed their home and all of their possessions.

Manawa resident Kimberly Hodel, a Community First mortgage processor, says, “When a member of our community has something tragic happen, our community is so tight-knit that we consider each other family and we do whatever we can to assist those in need.”
“The loss was a hardship no family should have to endure,” says Becky Jolitz, Clarissa’s sister. “Clarissa, Josh and their four children (ages 13 and under) have lost everything that they had built in the 16 years living in that old farm house.”
The Fradrich Family Benefit will take place Saturday (Feb. 9) at Bear Lake Resort, N4715 State Road 22-110, Manawa, to help the family who were away from home when the fire started.
The benefit officially begins at noon Saturday but will include a fisheree from 6 am to 3 pm, a dart tournament, basket raffles, a 50-50 raffle and a DJ starting at 6 pm. Any donations can be dropped off at Hello Beautiful, a boutique at 329 S. Bridge St., Manawa.

A Go Fund Me page has also been established:
Josh had used his handyman skills and sweat equity to make numerous upgrades to the home over the years. “He loved fixing and building things out of old antiques and barn-boards off their own old barn,” Becky says.
Josh’s sister-in-law, Kristi Sanderfoot, says the outpouring of support has been gratifying. “It has been incredibly heart-warming to see how the community of Manawa, and the surrounding towns, have come together to help out the Fradrich family,” says Kristi.
“The generosity of the community was instantaneous and continues to be supportive with whatever the family may need,” adds Kristi. “It makes us so proud to live in such a loving community!”
In January, Clarissa posted a thank you on Facebook for all the generosity extended to her family. “Every dollar is going to help us rebuild a home to continue raising our kids in,” she wrote. “We have been so blessed with the thoughts, words, prayers and love from everyone during this difficult time.”
