APPLETON – Community First Credit Union welcomed 3,400 new member/owners and added more than $27 million in assets with the completion of its merger of Oshkosh Central Credit Union effective Sept. 1.
“We’re thrilled to have former Oshkosh Central CU members as a part of our Community First family and look forward to serving them,” said CFCU President/CEO Cathie Tierney. “We’ve had very positive feedback from OCCU members about the merger and joining Community First.”
The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions – Office of Credit Unions asked Community First to manage OCCU’s daily operations in early May after a regulatory examination uncovered financial irregularities. The OCCU board of directors later voted to merge with CFCU.
Tierney said that since CFCU operates a branch at 1492 W. South Park Avenue, Oshkosh, the nearby OCCU branch on 20th Street has been closed while an analysis is conducted to determine which location to use in the long-term.
Community First operates another Oshkosh branch at 2424 Westowne Avenue and member/owners can use any of its 21 full-service branches throughout the region.
Community First Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative serving more than 113,000 member/owners who live and work in Northeast and Central Wisconsin. It has more than $2 billion in assets, 415 employees, and operates 21 full-service branches along with eight non-traditional branches in schools, retirement communities and the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, Wis.
