Community First accepting donations to honor New London teenager killed in a tragic car crash

100% of funds collected will go toward a grant Madsen community memorial

February 20, 2019

Community First Credit Union branches are accepting donations to a memorial fund established to honor a New London area teen-ager who lost his life Feb. 10 in a tragic car crash.

The Grant Madsen Memorial Fund has been established to set up a community memorial to remember the 17-year-old honor student and athlete described as having a “million-dollar smile.” The junior at New London High School, a National Honor Society and student council member, was on the basketball team and also played golf and soccer for the Bulldogs.

On Saturday (Feb. 16), Madsen’s teammates wore t-shirts with his name and No. 20 along with wrist bands bearing his uniform number in their first game since his passing. Other area high school basketball teams in Shawano, Menasha, Appleton West and Hortonville also wore t-shirts in honor of Madsen.

Donations to the memorial fund can be made at any of Community First’s 25 branch locations. 100% of funds collected will go to the fund.

Community First Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative serving more than 136,000 member/owners in Northeast and Central Wisconsin.
