Reitz Community First Credit Union sweepstakes winner.

Carol Reitz had been a loyal credit union member through her employer for nearly two decades when in 2008 Miller Electric Credit Union merged with Community First Credit Union.

Once becoming a Community First member, Carol decided to take advantage of our  Community First Great Rewards credit card.

And boy is she glad she did!

She recently won $5,000 in the Credit Union Give Back Sweepstakes simply for using her Great Rewards card on everyday purchases.

“I was shocked when I got the call because I don’t ever win anything,” said Reitz, who retired from Miller Electric in 2020 after more than 31 years. “It was like, ‘Oh my gosh $5,000! How cool is this?’”

She is one of 20 winners of $5,000 nationwide in the sweepstakes by Community First’s credit card processor. Any Community First Great Rewards credit card holder who used their card at least four times a week between July 10 and Oct. 29 were eligible to win.

The Appleton native who now lives in Shawano said the Great Rewards card is her only credit card and she uses it “mainly for gas, grocery shopping and ordering things on-line. It’s very handy and convenient.”

Members like Carol earn one point for every dollar spent, with no limit on points you can earn. Points can be redeemed for cash, airline tickets, travel packages and merchandise.

There are many other card benefits and conveniences – digital wallets, card controls and alerts – all within our digital banking or mobile app.

Indeed, Carol said she finds it very easy to keeps tabs on her money through the Community First mobile app and digital banking.

Her Great Rewards card came in handy recently during a visit to Florida for spending at restaurants, grocery stores and buying souvenirs. With a quick click on her phone, she can see any purchases made using her Great Rewards credit card, the current balance and easily make a payment from virtually anywhere.

“Community First has always been good to me – I’m proud to be a member-owner,” Carol said. “The staff is always helpful and friendly, especially at the Mason Street branch near where I worked for so many years.”

“The beauty of being a Community First credit card holder is you can have great local service while still being eligible to win a national sweepstakes like this simply by using your Great Rewards credit card for everyday purchases,” said Angela Skrobutanas, VP Product Marketing.
